Carney Hospital Earns National Award for Quality
Highlighting its nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, Carney Hospital was named a Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group for the third time in four years. Announced today, the Leapfrog Top Hospital award is widely acknowledged as one of the most competitive honors American hospitals can receive. The Top Hospital designation is awarded by The Leapfrog Group, an independent hospital watchdog organization.
The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit health care ratings organization, today released new Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades. The Safety Grade assigns letter grades of A, B, C, D and F to hospitals nationwide based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms. Carney Hospital was one of 832 awarded an “A” for its commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S.
Dorchester, October 6, 2017 ― Carney Hospital has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment and success in ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.

Carney Hospital Announces Partnership with TotalCare
Dorchester, MA – August 9th, 2017 – Carney Hospital has partnered with TotalCare, LLC, a locally owned home care provider based out of Roxbury, to provide eligible patients access to home care services. The goal of this partnership is to increase access to preventative healthcare services for members of our community who are most vulnerable and to reduce hospital readmissions.

Carney Hospital Achieves All Quality Standards
Dorchester, MA – July 21, 2017 – In its Semi-Annual Report for the period of July 1, 2016-June 31, 2017, Carney Hospital achieved 100% of all healthcare quality metrics set by MassHealth’s DSTI program.

Carney Hospital Dedicates EMS Breakroom
Dorchester, MA – May 30, 2017 – On Monday, May 22, 2017, Carney Hospital dedicated the recently completed EMS breakroom in the hospital’s Emergency Department to EMS providers past and present. Hospital staff presented EMS providers in attendance with a plaque to commemorate their service to the community and to remember those who have been lost in the line of duty.

Carney Hospital Hires New Hospitalist
Dorchester, MA – May 8th, 2017 – Carney Hospital has hired Dr. Saba Khokhar, who will assume the role as a full-time hospitalist and will be involved with overseeing the care of its inpatient units. Dr. Khokhar is board certified in Infectious Disease and also will be joining Dr. Alexander Griffin and Dr. Philip Carling in assisting Carney’s Infection Control and antibiotic stewardship practice.

Best Practices from Retail Fuel New Online Approach for Carney Hospital When Steward Health Care, parent company of Carney Hospital, set out to pioneer a new, online patient-user experience, they decided to draw inspiration not from other medical industry players, but instead from the digital presence of major retail brands.
New Hospital Safety Scores, which assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide and provide the most complete picture of patient safety in the U.S. health care system, were recently announced by The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog. Carney Hospital was one of 798 hospitals to receive an A, and just one of 153 hospitals to consistently earn a “Straight A” score since 2013, ranking it among the safest hospitals in the United States.
