Carney Hospital Names Kenneth T. Mui To Hospital Board

Decorated police detective, Quincy resident and community leader will add a vital perspective on public health and safety issues  
 
Dorchester, MA – March 29, 2016 – Carney Hospital today announced the appointment of Kenneth T. Mui, a detective with the City of Cambridge Police Department and Quincy resident, to the hospital’s board of directors.  
 
“Ken Mui represents an important addition to the hospital’s board of directors,” said Carney Hospital president, Walter J. Ramos.  “As a decorated police officer, Ken will bring a unique perspective on the communities we serve to the board of directors and the hospital’s planning.” 
 
“Carney Hospital has a wonderful history and a record of providing quality care to the residents of Quincy, Dorchester and the surrounding communities,” said Mui.  “I look forward to working with Walter Ramos and the hospital’s leadership in continuing their mission.”  
 
A veteran police officer, Mui graduated from the Plymouth Police Academy and he holds a degree in criminal justice from University Massachusetts – Boston.  His policing experience includes service as a patrolman and then detective with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority Police Department, before joining the City of Cambridge Police Department.  Mui has received multiple decorations during his policing career, including the MBTA Transit Police Chief’s Commendation, the Boston Police Department Chief’s Commendation, the Massachusetts Police Association Community Service Award and the George L. Hanna Memorial Award for Bravery, Medal for Valor.
 
Mui also serves as the president of the Benevolent Asian Jade Society of New England, an organization comprised of police officers from across New England working to address issues and concerns affecting local Asian communities, as well as the public-at-large. He is an active member of Troop 42 in Quincy (Boy Scouts), where he serves as an assistant scout master, mentoring his two boys and other young men in building character, developing leadership skills, promoting good citizenship, and supporting an appreciation for outdoor adventure.
